CHRIS CARPENTER WINS ON JRI SHOCKS

Chris Carpenter wins the Super Late Model race at Legendary Hilltop Speedway on JRi Shocks!

The Marietta Times –

AMRA Late Model racer Chris Carpenter has spent the spring watching his father Freddy and brother Tyler dominate the local dirt track racing scene.

Friday night it would be his turn to do the dominating as he led every single lap of the 25-lap AMRA Late-Model feature to claim his first win of the season at The Legendary Hilltop Speedway.

Chris started next to his father on the front row of the feature and quickly grabbed the lead on the quarter- mile dirt track.

Once in front there was no looking back as Chris quickly pulled away from the rest of the field in his number 18 Kryptonite Chasis.

A caution flag on the tenth lap of the race when Ronnie Mayle spun out briefly slowed Carpenter down but once the race went back to green he continued his torrid pace as he lapped all but the top nine cars of the 18-car field.

Carpenter had thought about not racing at all this week but credited his father Freddy for giving him such a fast race car.

“I couldn’t do this without my dad and he really worked very hard to get this car ready,” said Carpenter. ” I was ready to go on vacation but he talked me into racing and I’m glad it turned out the way it did.”

Freddy ran a strong second followed by Jeff Burdette in third.

Jeremey Misel charged from his seventh place starting position to finish fourth while Pete Crum rounded out the top five.

The race was a quick one as the yellow flag waved just three times.

Young Tyler Evans duplicated Carpenter’s feat in the AMRA Modified race as he too led wire-to-wire to claim the 20-lap feature.

Bob Page, Casey Fritz, Toby Wilson and Coleman Evans rounded out the top five.

Legendary Hilltop will return to action next Friday night with regular racing in all classes
